I recently finished a short story (novella) I was working on titled: Volunteers. While it is listed in the post-apocalyptic category, it’s actually considered post post-apocalyptic. In other words, civilization has started to rebuild itself after a world ending event.
The story is told from the perspective of Calvin McKinney, who is recalling the events to his grandson, Miles. The perspective bounces between 2027 and 2067.
This is my entry in the Kindle storyteller contest. I’ve never done one of these, so I hope you enjoy.
